Frequently asked questions
Most questions are already answered
Does the SEVO get hotter than gas and charcoal grills?
The SEVO reaches up to 750 °C at the heating with activated BoostZone, 500 °C of which directly on the food. Commercially available gas grills reach up to 300 °C, high-priced gas grills with a separate infrared side burner up to 800 °C. In a charcoal grill, the charcoal burns at approx. 800 °C, of which – depending on the height of the grate – approx. 450 – 500 °C reach the food being grilled. This heat decreases as the charcoal burns down.
For steaks in particular, heat is needed to create a proper crust (“branding”), while the meat in the center remains juicy and tender. 500 °C on the grill is very suitable for this.

How much do the SEVO models cost?
The SEVO has a modular design and is available in different versions, each with a different price. The exact prices are of course also dependent on the respective online store or specialist dealer.. Here is an overview of all stores and there you can find the respective prices.
What are the SEVO models and what are their part numbers?
SEVO GTS – with lid and with grill cart (PG 8107 = 1 package, PG 8137 = 2 packages)
SEVO GT – with lid, without grill cart (PG 8106)
SEVO GS – without lid, with base (PG 8119)
SEVO G – without lid, without underframe (PG 8104)

Are the heating coils not contaminated by the dripping grease?
Due to the high heat that the heating coils reach (up to 750 °C), even grease beads off almost completely and ends up in the water of the reflector dish. In addition, the heater can be cleaned easily – all information on this can be found under the question “How do I clean my junction box and heater?”.
Curious? More info can be found here.
How do I clean my junction box and heater?
If the heater is very dirty, burn it out once beforehand – to do this, heat up the SEVO and wait a few minutes. Then clean the heating rods with a slightly damp cloth or a brass brush. For safety reasons, the heater must not be cleaned with liquids or even immersed in them.

How do I clean the other parts of the SEVO?
The internal parts made of stainless steel (grill grate, reflectors, water tray) can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The plastic housing parts, as well as the grill cart, can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

What should be considered when moving, cleaning and stowing?
The SEVO must be unplugged after use and always cool down completely first.

Is it possible to barbecue outside even in heavy rain?
Even in the rain can be grilled outside, because the SEVO has the protection class IPX4 (protection against splashing water). Operation must be stopped during thunderstorms.

What heat to use for which barbecue dishes?
Low & Slow Pulled Pork, Spareribs, Brisket: 80-150 °C
Fish: 120-180 °C
Vegetables: 150-180 °C
Sausages, poultry, soy products, cheese 180-230 °C

Exactly how many degrees does the SEVO reach - 500°C or 750°C?
The SEVO reaches up to 750 °C – but measured on the heater. We find it more honest to tell the customer how high the temperature is measured on the meat and therefore praise the 500 °C reached on the grilled food. This is also the temperature that should be kept in mind when grilling and is therefore displayed.

How large is the grilling surface of the SEVO?
The grill surface of the SEVO devices is approx. 41.5 cm x 31.5 cm (=1,300 cm²).
Curious now? You can find more info here.
The SEVO has 3,000 watts - Is that suitable for a normal socket?
Yes, a normal power outlet is sufficient. However, since the SEVO requires 3,000 watts, only one grill can be used per circuit.

For me the 2 meter cable is too short - what to do?
If a cable drum or an extension cable is used, this may result in a loss of power. It is therefore important to ensure that a high-quality and approved cable is used. In addition, the cable must always be completely unwound, as otherwise there may be undesired heating on the cable and thus damage. The performance of the SEVO can also be affected by an inferior extension cable / cable reel or improper use.

How should I store my SEVO to have fun with it for a long time?
When the grill is not in use, the heating element with terminal box must be removed from the grill and stored in a dry interior. The other parts of the grill may be stored outdoors – but protected from the weather.
Curious? More info is available here.
Why do you fill water into the SEVO?
At the high temperatures, the use of water in the reflector dish is recommended for several reasons: 1. smoke development is significantly reduced. If grease or liquid from the grilled food drips directly onto the heating element, smoke will form. 2. Cleaning the reflector dish is made much easier.
Curious? You can find more information here.
What do I need the lid for with the SEVO?
The lid provides better heat retention and protects against wind. Only through the lid, the SEVO allows the preparation of slow grilling dishes and pizza.

Roast beef and beef steaks: 53-55 °C (medium-rare), 60-65 °C (medium-well)
