Where is the best location for my SEVO during barbecue? Is it getting hot under the SEVO?
Place the SEVO on a flat, heat-resistant surface, that is insensitive to splashes. Those splashes are unavoidable with greasy food.

Can I use my SEVO indoors?

Can I use the SEVO over with an extension cable?
If a cable drum or an extension cable is used, this will result in a loss of power. The cable has to be completely unwound, otherwise it may heat up unacceptably. In addition, the cable must be suitable for the power indication on the type plate and for outdoor use.
Can I use my SEVO outdoors if it snows?
The location of the SEVO should be weatherproof. The grill is splash water protected, this means that a few snowflakes shouldn’t affect the outcome. Attention: Extreme cold temperatures can cause a loss of power.
Can I store the control box outside?
If the grill is not in use, the heating element with the control box have to be removed and stored in a dry interior.
Should I cover my SEVO?
The SEVO can be stored outside on a weather protected location. To protect the grill from further weather affects the appliance should be covered. The SEVERIN covers ZB 8128 and 8129 are suitable for this purpose. The heating element must be removed from the grill and stored in a dry interio
How do I clean the cooking grate, water tray and reflectors?
Always unplug the grill from the power supply and let the grill cool down before cleaning. Remove the cooking grade, reflectors and water tray and clean them in the dishwasher or in rinse water, soak if necessary. Do not use metal sponges or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning.
Tip: Baking soda can also be used to clean the cooking grate, reflector inserts and water tray. To do this, make a paste of water and baking soda, rub it into the dirty areas and leave it to work for some time. Work in with a soft brush/sponge and rinse thoroughly.
How do I clean stainless steel cooking grates?

How do I clean the SEVO control box?
Always unplug the grill from the power supply and a let the grill cool down. Remove the control box from the grill. For reasons of electrical safety, it must not be treated with liquids or even immersed in them. Clean the radiator with the connection box using only a slightly damp cloth.
How do I clean the core thermometers?
Clean the thermometers after every use with a damp cloth.
How much water do I have to fill in the water tray of the SEVO?
Pour water into the reflector tray up to the “Max”-mark (maximum 2 litre). Do not pour the water directly onto the heating element or the sensor on the heating element.
How do I set up my SEVO?

Do I have to preheat the SEVO?
For an optimal barbecue experience, the SEVO should be fully heated up to the target temperature. The heating time for the maximum temperature of 500 °C is approx. 10 minutes.
When do I have to fill water into my SEVO?
Always fill the reflector tray with water before putting it into use! Only after that plug in the power plug. Do not pour water directly onto the heating element. Watch the water level during grilling and top up with water if necessary.
What is the highest reachable temperature with the SEVO?
The SEVO can reach a maximum of 500 °C in the BoostZone with an open lid. This is the right side of the grill.
On the whole grill surface the temperature can reach a maximum of 350 °C with an open and closed lid.
What do the different colours of the illuminated light ring mean?
The illuminated ring indicates the operating status of the appliance.
Orange: Grilling 80-350 °C
Red: BoostZone 330-500 °C
Purple: Indirect 80-200 °C
Blue: Stand-by mode
No light: Sleep mode.
Flashing: The unit is heating up or cooling down.
Permanently lit: The selected temperature has been reached
What does it mean if the illuminated light ring on my SEVO pulsates/flashes?

What are the temperature zones of the SEVO?
Normal grilling: 80-350 °C
BoostZone: 330-500 °C (only with an open lid)
Indirect grilling: 80-200 °C
Do I have to refill the water during grilling?
Yes, before the water has evaporated from the tray, water must be refilled. If the water tray is filled up to the maximum and the maximum grill temperature of 500 °C is used, a water refill is neccessary after approx. 5 hours.
With the lid closed (320 °C) after approx. 20 hours. The water level must be checked regularly.
To refill, switch off the appliance and unplug it from the mains. Do not pour water directly onto the heating element!
Why do I have to add water to the water tray for grilling?
Greasy grilling foods may ignite, so fill the reflector tray with water before each use! This cools the reflector tray, reduces smoke development and makes cleaning easier. Only then plug in the power plug. Do not pour water directly onto the heating element.
Can I use my SEVO without water in the water tray?

Can I connect any conventional core thermometer to the SEVO?
The grill may only be used with the supplied core thermometer or SEVERIN item no. ZB 8126.
What does my SEVO have different grill modes for?
Grill mode “Indirect” 80-200 °C
For cooking e.g. spareribs, pulled pork, roasts or re-cooking large steaks. Particularly suitable for long jobs. Only the outer area of the grill surface is heated. This creates an indirect zone.
Grilling 80-350 °C
For grilling sausages, poultry, fish, etc. For reheating steaks. The entire grilling surface is heated.

For grilling steaks. The BoostZone is on the right; the left side is heated to 330 °C.
Is indirect grilling possible on my SEVO?
Your SEVO Smart Control has a grill mode for indirect grilling. To do this, set the grill mode to “indirect” right on the appliance or in the mySeverin App. The light ring on the appliance will then light up purple.
Can I touch the grill from the outside during the grilling process?
The SEVO has a Safe Touch surface. This means that the housing of the grill can be touched from the outside even during the grilling process. Caution: Even though there is no risk of burns, the appliance can still get
Can I smoke on my SEVO?
Yes, with the smoking box ZB 8183 can you smoke your food on your SEVO.
Does my SEVO have a ‘Sizzle-Zone’ ?
The sizzle zone is located on the right-hand side of the grill surface. This can also be recognised by the double heating coil. To use the Sizzle Zone, open the lid of the grill, select the “Boost” grill mode directly on the appliance or in the mySeverin App and set the grill to 500°c. As soon as the light ring lights up red continuously, the temperature is reached.
What is indirect grilling?
During indirect grilling, the food is not placed directly over the heat source, but next to it. For this grilling technique a grill with a lid is needed. In this closed system, the air circulates in the cooking chamber and an oven effect is created. Due to this gentle cooking with relatively low temperatures, the cooking time increases. Classic dishes of indirect grilling are the so-called long jobs: roasts, pulled pork, spare ribs and beef brisket. Detailed instructions for these dishes can be found in the mySeverin App under “Recipes”.
How do I use the core thermometer?
Plug in the core thermometer in the control box on the barbecue. Insert the core thermometer at the thickest point, if possible, in the middle of the food. If the food contains a bone, the temperature sensor on the spike should not touch it, otherwise the temperature may be distorted. You can then set the target temperature of the core thermometer directly on the grill or in the mySeverin App and monitor the current core temperature.

How do I set a grill temperature?
The grill mode can also be set on the smartphone via the mySeverin App.
Your grill is connected to the mySeverin App via Wi-Fi. Make sure that the Wi-Fi connection of your SEVO is stable. For example, if the grill is at the very edge of your Wi-Fi network, the connection may be interrupted. In this case, a different location or, for example, a Wi-Fi amplifier can help.
The boost function of my SEVO does not work. What could be the reason for this?
The “Boost” grill mode is not selected. Please change the grill mode from “Normal” or “Indirect” to “Boost”. This can be done directly on the appliance or via the mySeverin App.
The lid of the grill is closed. Please open the lid and raise the temperature again.
How can I control my SEVO Smart Control with my smartphone?
The SEVO Smart Control can be controlled by the mySeverin App via smartphone. To do this, the app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the android play Store.
How far am I allowed to move away from the SEVO when I operate the grill with my smartphone?
As soon as the connection between the two devices is set up, the SEVO is in your Wi-Fi network. You can now access the device without any distance limitation. For a smooth barbecue experience, please always make sure that your SEVO’s Wi-Fi connection is stable.
With which app can I control the SEVO Smart Control?
The SEVO Smart Control can be controlled by the mySeverin App via smartphone.
What is the wattage of the SEVO?
The SEVO has a power of 3000 W.
Can I convert my SEVO to a SEVO Smart Control?
Yes, the SEVO can be upgraded with the smart control element, the PG 8194 SEVO Smart Control – Upgrade Kit. Simply insert the control element with the heater into your SEVO housing and start grilling.
To which appliance does the ‘Grillmaster’ belong?
The “Grillmaster” can be used with the SEVO Smart Control.
What is the ‘Grillmaster’?
The “Grillmaster” integrated into the app leaves nothing to chance – even with the more complex barbecue dishes. With clear step-by-step instructions, it guides you through barbecue recipes such as steak, pulled pork and much more. Of course the app also sends notifications when the next preparation step has to be done or the desired cooking level is reached. This is how barbecuing is done with a guarantee of success – even for barbecue novices.

How do I grill a steak on my SEVO?
Step 1
Connect the core thermometer to the Power Box. Switch on the grill, select the “Boost” grill mode directly on the appliance or in the mySeverin App, open the lid and preheat to 500 °C. (LED ring flashes red = grill is heating up / LED ring lights up red = desired target temperature has been reached, duration approx. 10 min.)
Step 2
Remove the steak from the refrigerator and insert the core thermometer into the meat.
Step 3
Place the steak on the Boost Zone (right) and sear briefly on both sides to create a nice crust (also called branding).
Step 4
Reduce the grill temperature to 100 °C and place the steak on the left side of the grill.
Step 5
Select the desired target temperature of the core thermometer directly on the grill or in the mySeverin App.

Rare 47 – 52 °C
Medium – Rare 52 – 54 °C
Medium 55 – 58 °C
Medium – Well 58 – 60 °C
Well Done from 61 °C
Step 6
When the target temperature is reached, remove the steak from the grill and remove the thermometer (be careful, it is hot, wear grill gloves!) Place the steak on a board or plate and let it rest for 2 – 5 minutes. Meanwhile, turn off the grill.
Step 7
Cut the meat against the bevel and season to taste.
